"Some men may be more fortunate than others As chance has it; but no one's happy--no one."

This quote struck me because of its simplicity. It sums up my entire stance on the human condition. "No one's happy--no one." It's emphatic, practical and completely true. No matter what someone has, they want something else. A beautiful, million-dollar house with every material object anyone could want is not enough. A loving spouse is not enough. Everyone has something wrong with their life. They hate their boss. They can not figure out this or that. Their parents are always nagging them because they are not as successful as "so and so"'s daughter. No matter how "perfect" someones life is, there is always something wrong with it. As for fortune, though i think it plays a small role in life, the point is easy to comprehend. Some people have a million-dollar house. Some people have a loving spouse. Some people do not. This does not necessarily affect one's happiness however. A poor man can easily be happier than a rich man. A single man can easily be happier than a married man. It may have some impact but overall it is the combination of every force. Since no one can maintain perfection from every force, no one can maintain a truly perfect life and thus, no one can be truly happy.
