In Judy Brady's essay, “Want a Wife," Brady makes it clear the expectations of a wife from a man’s point of view. Using a heavy sarcastic tone and irony she explains how a woman is the victim in a marriage, and how she would like a wife who would do the cooking and cleaning and such.
One thing I liked in particular about this was how clear Brady is in making her point. The point does indeed relate to Media. As Jason leaves Media once he is done with her, just as is portrayed in Brady’s “Want a Wife”. However assuming that every relationship falls into this category is slightly irritating. Not all men are so harsh and unfaithful. Not to mention that these women who were victims of their relationships obviously saw nothing wrong with the way they were treated as they raised their children to withhold the same expectations. So as much as Brady may be right about the mistreatment of women she fails to mention that not all women felt this way and instilled this way of life into future generations as more than acceptable but expected even.
