Madea Quote

The quote I chose was, "What greater grief than the loss of one's native land." I passionately believe that being exiled from the United States of America would be one of the worst, most dramatic, events that could change my life. If I were not living in the United States, I would have so many, what Americans call, rights not be available to me anymore. If I lived in a country where I could not worship as I please, I would have to constantly try and hide what I believe in, not just form the government, but also from maybe even my neighbors. It would also be horrible to live in a country that did not have freedom of expression or voice. Here in America, people are able to voice their opinions on issues that face the United States, and,in almost all cases, the citizens of America have some type of vote in what laws are instated in The United States. For example, the issue of gay marriage is not so highly tolerated in many countries, but here in America people can express their opinion on the issue, whether it be for or against it. Also, the choice of believing in abortion or not is an option in America, and no woman is punished by the law if she chooses to have an abortion. And probably the one of the biggest things that American citizens are happy about is that fact that The United States of America is a true democracy. We elect our leaders, not because people were forced to vote one way, or persecuted for who they voted for. America is one of the true democracy's that stand in the world, and I believe that that is why America is the force that it is today.

  1. Good work. Exile isn't something most of us think about, but you do well in pointing out how devastating it must be (have been for Medea).
