In Antigone, Antigone the main character, must choose between going and burying her dead brothers body or not. By law Creon has said to not go and bury the body and this is hard for Antigone because it is her brother. She tells her sister that she is going to do this and her sister advises her not to do so because it is against the law. Antigone finally decides to do this and her punishment should be her death. Her sister tries to take some of the blame because she finally sees that it is the right thing to bury the dead, but Antigone will not let her. In the end Antigone and her lover take their own lives.
In history many people have stood up against the law when something is not morally right. Although millions of Jews were killed during the Holocaust, a small majority of them were saved by people in attics and basements in their homes. It was very much illegal to do this and if you were caught harboring Jews you yourself would be sent to concentration camps. The people who did this obviously saw that it was morally wrong to persecute someone for their race and broke the law because they knew it was the right thing to do.
