fate vs choiceis

I believe that people have choices that make them the person they are to become. Fate may come about by what someone decides, but I think everyone has a chance to change thier fate. If choices didnt matter then what is the point of trying? Oedipus is caught up in fate. In this story it tells of how no matter what he does fate will destroy him. This is true in this story but I do not think that this is true in every situation. It seems this way for Oedipus but even his fate I believe could have been changed. This reminds me of Lance Armstrong. Everyone said he was going to die from cancer it was his "fate". But he changed it and kept on going and now he is one of the healthiest people in America. So this shows how fate and choice tie together and how yes there may be a fate for someone, but it is up to choice that defines whether or not you change your fate or keep it for what it is.
