"An Eye For an Eye Makes the Whole World Blind" - Mahatma Gandhi

Medea has every right to be upset and angry about her situation. She obviously feels hurt and betrayed by a person that she loves and can wants nothing more than to make him suffer as well. I believe that this is the essence of revenge. When a person feels that they have been wronged by another, the first initial reaction it to make that person feel the same way. There is no question that revenge is meant for situations in which someone believes that he or she has been wronged by another person or group of people.

I have been in many situations where I have felt like this and wanted nothing more than to hurt the other person to give them a sense of what i was feeling. I resisted the temptation to de so even when i had friends telling me that it was what i should do because i realized that i would just be using someone to cause someone else pain, and as much as i wanted to do so, i knew that the consequence would lack satisfaction. It felt like i had never been so hurt in my life and it killed me to have to hinder my feelings but one thing stuck in my head, "Be the bigger person." My mom feels the need to reiterate this phrase every time I find myself i a tough situation, but over the years it has proved useful (shocking I know). I did not plot this/ these person/ peoples demise, i did not make a bad decision that could have made me feel even worse after, and i did not get your typical revenge, letting people know that i was, or at least was hoeing to be, the better person of the situation. Instead i went about my day unfazed as usual and made sure that it showed. This was my secret way of revenge. Yes, i wanted to severely hurt someone, scream in their face, and let my emotions take over but revenge in this sense would not have had the same sort of long term satisfaction as the other.

In short as miniscule as a situations that was it really made me think, seeking revenge is not something that makes a person look good or any better than the person who wronged them. I believe that it takes a much stronger person to step away from a situation and learn and grow from it than to dwell in it and make things worse. At this point in my life i do not believe that revenge is beneficial or justifiable because from experience it seems to make things more complicated or lack thereof makes things less complicated.
