Fate vs. Choice
In the story of Oedipus, it seems that no matter what happens, Oedipus cannot escape his fate, no matter the choices he makes. It appears that he is bound by the gods to the plan laid out for him, and that his choices are not his own. This opinion does not resonate with me. I believe that I have free will over my life and choices. I decided what paths I will take in life and I decided the choices that I make. I am responsible for my own actions. I was not made in a matter that I had no sway on the way my life turned out. I know that I was created with a free will and mind to choose the things in life that I have chosen. For example, I was born with the ability to decide what to do with my life, and what kinds of things to love. I was not born loving things because of fate, but because of the things I learned and experienced about them. This free choice enables me to make my own decisions, choose my own destiny, and I guess to put it simple, decide my own fate.
