To thine own self be true

I believe that the quote from Hamlet means that to be true to yourself you must first be true to everyone such as the night is to the day. For their to be trust between two people or more their needs to be truth. Relationships of any kind can not be based on lies and deceptions. If a business partner is led to believe that his partner is capable of doing many things for the business and he is actually not then the partnership will fail. The problem with this relationship was that the partners were not truthful to each other and thus they were not true to themselves. This made it so that they were depending on skill sets and qualities that were non-existent and so the partnership failed. By creating a fake persona the the relationship was started and moved on but when the qualities of the persona were called upon the the relationship failed.
