The “Dollhouse” is an appropriate title because that exactly what the story is. Nora plays the part of the doll. She does as she is told and keeps the things that her husband wishes not to hear hidden away just to please him. Torvald is the perfect puppeteer. He controls everything about the home and Nora. It’s as if he is playing ‘house’. Nora’s doll role is a continuous pattern that began with her father. She is for a long time happy merely being a doll, but somewhere it must have bothered her for that is what inspired the relationship she had with the doctor. It would be easy from going from being your fathers doll to your husband’s doll, but realizing this is not what she needs she courageously leaves and thus ending her time as anyone’s doll.
