The play “Dolls House” by Henrik Ibsen features the character Nora and her confrontation with the real world. The title “Dolls House” is important because all the events in the story take place in the house, and the doll is Nora. She is considered a doll because she is easily controlled and somewhat shallow. Furthermore she is essentially Torvold’s doll in the way that he dresses her up to what he wants her to be. He only cares if her lying is made public, and dose not so much care if she is immoral as long as it is privately known. Throughout the play he makes many references to owning her. Finally towards the end of play Nora makes a direct reference to her being a doll, by saying that she was her father’s doll and now she is Torvold’s doll, and her only purpose is looking nice
