Doll's House
Isben appropriately titled his story "A Doll's House" because Nora is basically a doll. Her husband and her father both treat/treated her like a doll. Her husband has all these nicknames such as squirrel and my song bird that are demeaning and something you would call a child. Trovald even fantasizes little stories that Nora is his mistress, something that a kid might play out with a doll. Even Nora's house is like a doll house. Nora keeps he ideas and opinions secret from her husband so that she can take on his ideas and let him choose her life for him. Nora works on keeping everything in the house to keep it perfect and neat like the rest of her enclosed life. She does not go out into the world and do anything or think for herself, everything she does is just work in her house. Nora knows nothing of the world and how things work because she has been held captive in a doll house without even realizing it.
