"When people hear good music, it makes them homesick for something they never had, and never will have."

Music has been around from the beginning of time. For what is music but sound? What is sound if not music? The first pop and crackle of a star, the first echoing boom of colliding meteors, and the first breath of wind through the first leaves of the first tree are all music in their own way. Humans have attempted to replicate these sounds but no replication is ever as good as the original. Music has nothing to do with guitars, drums, or even voices. Music is all around us, in us, and through us. Our brain provides lyrics, our voice provides tone, but our heart provides tempo. We are all songs;we are all music. We are all connected to music because when music ceases to exist, everything ceases to exist. The saddest part is that no one listens to music anymore. They listen to the imitations and assume that it is the real thing. We have all been chained and slowly dragged into Plato's cave without even knowing it. Music is the history of time, it reminds of who we are and where we came from. Music is all-inspiring and awesome.
As far as Louis Armstrong was concerned, music was also a wonderful way to spread a message. In his song "What Did I Do To Be So Black and Blue" Louis discusses the challenges that he has had with overcoming the racial barrier. With quotes such as "here am I, left high and dry,
Black, and 'cause I'm black I'm blue" it is not hard to see the purpose present in Armstrong's song. In Invisible Man, the narrator feels a certain connection to this song because of the strong racial connection.

  1. Whoever you are, your beginning about "what is music" and the stars and nature part was very peotic. I loved it! Also the graphic was cool. I also like how you made a point that nobody really listens to music anymore, but only immitations. GREAT JOB!
