How does [this] make you feel?

Werther is obviously a very passionate and emotional person. This along with his persistence, creates a personality type that, in his case, makes him vulnerable to obsessions. It is not that Werther is a weak person or completely dependent on others, but his one track mind creates blinders that enable him to see how he is acting, or how deep he is falling into despair. His actions are understandable to a certain degree, his sudden fits of depressing emotions are a little excessive.
In order to pull Werther out of his self-induced depression it is obvious that all contact with Lotte needs to e severed. As much as he loves her, her presence only worsens his depression and increases his thoughts of suicide. Although there are high points where he is extremely happy around her, her feelings are not genuine and she continues to lead him on. Severing all contact from Lotte would be a difficult task that would have to be handled with care because if done in the wrong way Werther would still be at risk of leaning towards suicidal actions. What Werther truly needs is to realize that he is a stronger person than he makes himself out to be. In this case I wouldn't push and try and make him talk about everything because in all reality that always makes things worse. I would let him open up on his own. I would also show him that there are plenty of others in the world, equally as attractive as Lotte, that would treat him better and not make him live in such misery. This would obviously take a good amount of time but it would most definitely be worth it in the end if it can save a life.
